Study Area
The following tables list the springs recorded by the Hesse Federation for Cave and Karst Research within the Rhön mountains, a total of 4,824 springs (status: October 2026). The tables and maps are updated continuously.
The map shows the number of surveyed springs per square kilometre. Clicking the map symbol in the tables shows the municipality on the map; clicking on the map shows the municipality and the number of springs.

The spring survey in the area of the Sinntal was conducted in part by the BUND Kreisgruppe Bad Kissingen, in the northern Main-Kinzig district by the Gesellschaft für Naturschutz und Auenentwicklung (GNA). Further support was given by the Verein RhönNatur e.V. and the Rhönklub section “Eisgraben”.
